Distraction-Free Phones for Employers & Workplaces
Short answers for business owners, operations managers, and HR teams considering filtered phones for their staff.
Do you provide phones for businesses and their employees?
Yes. We supply filtered phones to companies of all sizes — from a contractor outfitting a three-person crew to organizations deploying dozens of managed devices. Every phone runs our Gentech filter at the operating-system level and is managed through our MDM (mobile device management system), so the configuration you choose is the configuration your team actually has.
Why would a company issue distraction-free phones?
Because the phone in your employee's pocket is either a tool or a leak. Every feed, every notification, every "quick check" is a context switch — and on a regular smartphone there's no limit to them. A filtered work phone keeps everything the job needs (calls, texts, email, navigation, banking, Zoom, WhatsApp) and removes everything it doesn't (browser, social media, video feeds, AI chatbots). The result is a device employees can rely on without it competing for their attention — and a clear boundary between the company phone and personal scrolling.
What can employees still do on these phones?
The work essentials, depending on the model and the policy you set:
- Calls, texts, and MMS
- Email — Gmail and other approved clients
- Navigation — Waze, Google Maps (critical for field teams and drivers)
- Zoom for meetings
- WhatsApp — full chats with images on Samsung/Pixel devices (ideal for crew coordination); stricter text-and-voice-only filtering available on the MegaLife flip
- Banking and payments — Chase, Bank of America, Venmo, and most major banks
- Hotspot — included on every data plan ($18/month and up), useful for field laptops
What's removed: web browsers, social media, open app stores, video feeds, and AI chatbots.
Can we set our own allowed-app list?
Yes — that's the core of how institutional deployments work. You decide what's allowed and what's blocked; we enforce it at the device level. Need a specific line-of-business app, a dispatch tool, or a time-clock app? Email us the app name and we'll confirm whether it can be approved. App changes after deployment go through us, so the policy can't drift.
Can employees bypass or remove the filter?
No. The filter is installed at the operating-system level — it isn't a parental-control app that can be deleted, and it survives a factory reset. New apps require approval through us. Add the account lock option and even account-level changes require your password, so an employee can't call us and reconfigure their own device.
One honest caveat: our protection lives on the phone itself. If an employee moves the SIM card into a personal unfiltered phone, the SIM has normal network access on that device. If browsing must stay blocked even then, the usual answer is pairing our filtered devices with a small data plan — email us and we'll talk through your setup.
Can employees use their own phones (BYOD)?
If an employee already owns a compatible Samsung Galaxy, our Koshering Service ($170) converts it: we bring the device up to date, install the Gentech filter at the OS level, configure the approved app list, and ship it back. Same management, no new hardware.
Which phones do companies usually pick?
- Field crews, contractors, outdoor work: the Kyocera DuraXA 4831 — military-spec rugged (MIL-STD-810G shock and water resistance) with Waze support.
- Office and management staff: koshered Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel smartphones — full email, Zoom, banking, and WhatsApp with images.
- Talk-and-text-only roles: the TCL Flip or Wonder Talk-Only for the simplest possible device.
- Mixed fleets are fine — one policy conversation covers all of them.
How are billing and bulk orders handled?
Bulk and B2B orders run through our wholesale portal (apply at koshercell.org/pages/wholesale) with B2B pricing; the standard minimum order is $1,000. We accept credit card, Zelle, and wire transfer — wire/ACH instructions are provided privately to your verified business contact. Plans run $8.50–$40/month per line depending on data needs, or use any carrier's SIM — our phones are unlocked.
Who do we contact?
Email support@koshercell.org or call (848) 299-4081 with the number of devices, what should be allowed and blocked, and any apps specific to your business. We'll recommend models, set the policy, and handle setup so devices arrive ready to hand out.
